Protean invited to join AVL’s line-up of power electronics experts

Protean’s CTO, Stephen Lambert, was invited to join a panel of power electronics experts at the AVL Inverter TechDay on the 20th of March. Representing the company at our third event of 2025, Steve led a presentation at the University of Warwick / Coventry focusing on the challenges and solutions for in-wheel motor technology when applying the technology to premium automotive platforms.

The AVL Inverter TechDay is one of the few events in the calendar year that specifically focuses on automotive inverters and the impact that choices made in the drivetrain will have on vehicle efficiency and cost.

“The inverter is an often overlooked and often ignored part of the drivetrain, when in reality, it is key to any vehicle realising its drivetrain performance targets.

The discussion during the day was informative and enlightening. In particular, questions and discussions from my talk ranged from unsprung mass (no its not a problem), recyclability and serviceability, EMC, functional safety and even brake system integration.”
